Jeffrey Is a dutch motocross racers,Having been born in the tiny village of Geldrop, it was only a matter of time before the Dutchman struck gold. The young motocross rider took his first national title in 2002, when he won the Dutch Amateur 65cc Championship. After another 65cc success the following year, Jeffrey moved through the classes, picking up world and European titles on the way, as well as a reputation for high performance on sand.
In 2009, Jeffrey stepped up to the MX2 class where he achieved a more than respectable second place in the European Championship, and a third place in the Dutch Open Championship. From 2010 he moved to the MX2 World Championship with the Red Bull KTM Factory team and a year later was crowned Dutch Open Champion.
His climb to the top continued and, after finishing as a runner-up in the 2011 MX2 season, Jeffrey dominated the 2012 season – finally snapping up the World Champion title in spectacular style two races before the season finale in Germany. He repeated this feat in 2013 to become a two-time World Champion. 2014 saw him finish second in MX2 with 12 wins and the victories kept on coming in 2015, but injuries affected Herlings' ability to really push for further titles.
2016 saw Herlings back to full fitness and a landmark 50th victory achieved on home soil at Valkenswaard in March 2016 was part of a commanding start to the season. His lead over his rivals was so dominant that, even though he was forced to miss three rounds due to a collarbone injury, he still never lost the lead of the championship. A third MX2 title was confirmed at the MXGP of the Americas. Now, with the MX2 category well and truly conquered, Jeffrey has made the step up to MXGP, where he continues his successful partnership with the Red Bull KTM Factory Team.
